April Easter Monday 17 - Coleford Carnival of Transport and Auto Jumble, Coleford, Gloucestershire Meet up at Trevor and Gloria's house at 08:00 ready to leave in convoy at 08:30. This was a really good day out last year. We had a club display area with (I think) 10 cars, and everyone enjoyed themselves. The detail is all on the form. The whole of the town of Coleford is closed off to transport for the day and the various car parks and streets are given over to the display of all sorts and kinds of vehicles - from rally cars to vintage and classic cars, motorbikes, and military vehicles. There are also various stands with auto jumble, cleaning products, clothing etc. There is a Scenic tour of the Forest of Dean, on Easter Sunday, this form with details is also on the website. There were around 500 vehicles on display last year. The theme this year is Rescue and Emergency vehicles, last year it was performance cars, and there were several Ferraris, a large presence from the Lotus club, many whom travelled from Manchester and further a field and had made a weekend of it. Many of our members took picnics, and fold up chairs etc., however all the local hostelries, cafes etc serve food and drinks, so that the choice is yours as to how you sustain yourself during the day. It is a fairly early start depending on where you live, we all have to be in position by 9am I think, I will have more details a bit later, and you will all receive a pass etc and instructions once we have all registered. The earliest we are allowed to leave is 4pm, so it is fairly long day, but I think everyone managed to find enough to do and see. I have to have final numbers and forms filled out so that I am able to send them all off together with the club display form to the organisers for the February meeting. May Sunday 21 - Spring Rally, Cotswold Wildlife Park This year the Oxford Area are putting this event together for us. See all the information about this at ox.mx5oc.co.uk www.cotswoldwildlifepark.co.uk This also forms our May Drive
September Saturday and Sunday 2 and 3 - Coventry Festival of Motoring A fantastic weekend package of £85 per car for two people including tea/coffee on arrival, evening reception, hotel B&B in a brand new 4* hotel in the city and the Sunday Run. Jon and Ellie attended last year and the Saturday the cars were shown off at the Coventry Transport Museum, with a dinner and guest speakers in the evening. The Sunday run was fantastic with an overwhelming turn out of cars on the 40 mile route and then back to the Memorial Park for viewing to the general public. It was well organised and the weather glorious. The highlight for us was being cheered along the route by people as we passed. This year the South West Midlands Area are hoping to have our own Club Static Display. This is an extra £5 per car and includes a special memento.
